SurfAid Documentary Wins X-Dance Award; ''Wave of Compassion'', Three-time Nominee, Takes Home Best Original Score.


PARK CITY, Utah Park City is a city located in Summit County, Utah, United States. It is one of two major resort towns in Utah, the other being Moab. It is considered to be part of the Wasatch Back and a part of the Salt Lake City metropolitan area.  -- Thanks to the combined talents of filmmakers Justin Krumb, Sonny Miller and Steve Barilotti, SurfAid's documentary - 'Wave of Compassion' - won Best Original Score at X-Dance. The one-hour documentary was also nominated for Best Story and Best Documentary in the four-day action sports' film festival.

Krumb, Barilotti, Miller and surfer Keith Malloy were on hand in Park City (following a day of celebratory snowboarding) at the X-Dance awards ceremony January 25th to receive the award and represent SurfAid.

"X-dance is an amazing opportunity for action sports' filmmakers," said a jubilant Krumb. "The chance to interact with our peers, see their films, go boarding AND get recognition for your work...it's pretty cool."

Special thanks goes out to professional surfer David Rastovich, featured in the documentary, whose impromptu beats on his unique steel "hang" drum helped 'Wave of Compassion' win Best Original Score.

'Wave of Compassion' chronicles the journey of two lucky sweepstakes winners along with a group of some of the world's best surfers as they embark on an adventure through the Mentawai Islands The Mentawai Islands are a chain of about 70 islands off the western coast of Sumatra in Indonesia.
