Support for Carol; briefing 60second.

CAROL THATCHER Carol Thatcher (born 15 August 1953), officially styled as The Honourable Carol Thatcher, is a British journalist and the daughter of the late Sir Denis Thatcher, Bt and Baroness Thatcher, the former British Prime Minister.  says she has received many letters of support after she referred to a black tennis player as a "golliwog gol·li·wog or gol·li·wogg
n.
A doll fashioned in grotesque caricature of a Black male.

[After Golliwog, a character in books by Florence Upton (died 1922), American illustrator.
".

Ms Thatcher, 55, was sacked from BBC's The One Show in February.

When asked on the Andrew Marr Show whether she regretted saying the word, she said: "No, because I used it in a context which wasn't appreciated at the time." "My store of golliwog fridge magnets has actually now gone up because people have sent them to me. The point about the mail I had was today's obsession with political correctness and I think that is a topic that has to be really addressed."
