I have recently taken a diabetes education course which helped me to understand and manage my diabetes. Now Diabetes UK is calling for better education, more psychological support and quality tailored-information for people with diabetes. There are 3 million people with diabetes in the UK and this number is set to rise to more than 4 million by 2025. If the condition is not managed well, diabetes can lead to devastating complications such as heart disease, stroke and amputation amputation (ăm'pyətā`shən), removal of all or part of a limb or other body part. Although amputation has been practiced for centuries, the development of sophisticated techniques for treatment and prevention of infection has greatly - so it is vital that we do all we can to help people control their diabetes.Please visit www.worlddiabetesday.org.
