Modified polyester systems

Dynapol crystalline polyester powders can be used to modify polyester coil coatings as replacements for PVC plastisols. These crystalline polyester powders, which are said to be easily incorporated into polyester/HMMM or polyurethane systems, give the same film properties as PVC plastisols, according to the manufacturer. Besides good flexibility, these two mil systems can also be applied as single coats on aluminum substrates. In addition, embossing can successfully be performed, according to the company. (Creanova)

Polymeric plasticizer 

Trilene 77 plasticizer is a solid form polymeric plasticizer that is said to offer processors easy handling at room temperature, allowing them to cut and weigh it without it sticking to surfaces. This benefit is said to improve processing operations for mixing, extrusion, calendering and molding. Handling techniques for Trilene plasticizer are similar to those for other waxy solids in the rubber industry. The polymer changes to a moderate-to-low viscosity liquid (at temperatures above 45-50 [degrees] C), due to melting of its ethylene crystallinity. In addition, unlike a conventional, non-reactive paraffinic oil, Trilene 77 plasticizer has minimal effects on cure rate and cured physical properties, including hardness and aging. Typical applications include wire and cable, seals, rubber auto parts and accessories. Since Trilene 77 plasticizer is a high-ethylene synthetic rubber (EPDM) with low molecular weight, it is said to be useful as a non-extractable and non-volatile reactive plasticizer in EPDM and other specialty rubber compounds. The polymeric plasticizer enhances the surface appearance of extrusion compounds, and provides an improved balance of static ozone resistance and physical properties in general purpose rubber blends that incorporate Royalene EPDM and Nauguard Q antioxidant, according to the manufacturer. Trilene 77 plasticizer is said to allow higher loadings of fiber floc and provides better dispersion in high molecular weight polymers via the pre-masterbatching of fiber, according to the company. Lubricant/release agent

Aqualift water-based, semi-permanent lubricant/release agents are based on a unique chemistry that is said to deliver excellent unloading rinseability and water washability for formed hosing. The environmentally-friendly product, already used in production, is suitable for tube and lube applications which can be applied to the inner liner of hose as it is extruded. Polyolefin elastomers

The company has expanded its line of Engage polyolefin elastomers with the introduction of two grades. Both are high performance copolymers designed to meet high flow and enhanced cold temperature impact requirements, according to the company. With the two new products, the company now offers over 20 grades of Engage, with densities between 0.857-0.913 g/cc and melt indices ranging from 0.5-30 dg/min. The 8842 grade is said to offer exceptional properties of ultra-low density elastomers. This high-performance grade is a 1 melt index, 0.857 g/cc ethylene-octene copolymer. Engage 8130 is a 13 melt index, 0.864 g/cc ethylene/octene copolymer. This new grade allows for thin-walling of parts and is said to offer improved processability. (DuPont Dow Elastomers)
