Supplier rides housing wave to new digs.


The booming housing market in northeastern Ontario Northeastern Ontario is the region within the Canadian province of Ontario which lies north and east of Lakes Superior and Huron.

 has translated into expansion for Kaycan Ltd.

The company will be making a cross-town move in February from its cramped 8,000-square-foot facility on Falconbridge Road into a new 26,000-square-foot complex, scheduled for completion this month, in the Walden Industrial Park, across Mumford Drive near Manitoulin Transport.

Frattini says Kaycan has been growing dramatically over the last three years and the company is showing its commitment to expand sales in the Northern Ontario market.

"New construction in Sudbury, North Bay and other areas seems to be going quite strong."

The company is geared mostly to the residential market, but does not sell direct to the general public. Their prime market is the retail lumberyard business, including clients such as Home Hardware, Castle Building Centre, Tim-Br Mart and independent lumberyards.

 systems, Frattini says the new building offers curtain-side delivery in being able to back a transport into the branch to load within the facility.

New hires are a possibility as sales increase.

"We've added one full-time position this year and will add another next year," says Frattini, to add to their complement of six full-time and several part-time seasonal workers in their warehouse.
