With a school chock-full of budding talent, the Musicians Institute The Musicians Institute is a Hollywood, California Contemporary Music College. Formed in 1977 as the Guitar Institute of Technology, co-founded by jazz guitarist Howard Roberts, the Institute eventually grew into a comprehensive contemporary music college that in Hollywood has retained this industry veteran to shop CDs produced by currently enrolled students to record labels. Company history Beginnings was so impressed with her track record that they hired her outright, and she remained with the label until the 1992 sale to Universal. Stints with Lookout Management/Vapor Records and Capitol Records Capitol Records is a major United States-based record label, owned by EMI, located in Hollywood, California. Its headquarters building, the Capitol Tower, is a major landmark near the corner of Hollywood and Vine. followed, and in 2000 Vicky's own Small Hairy Dog label produced June Carter-Cash's Grammy-winning CD, Press On. After all other labels had passed on the original Carter Family Carter Family, group of singers that specialized in traditional music of the Southern Appalachian Mountains; it consisted of A(lvin) P(leasant) Carter, 1891–1960, b. Maces Spring, Va. member's record (and long before the box-office success of Walk The Line), Vicky knew that the music needed to be heard. Despite having no plans to start a record company herself, she formed the label, released the CD, and once again proved that her musical instincts were on the mark. In 2005, Vicky formed Aesthetic V (www.vickyhamilton.com), a new artist management model created in response to the breakdown of the old music business paradigm.
