Scalable Test Toolkit Pioneers Innovations in Platform

Architecture and Testing Applications

Sunrise Telecom Incorporated (Nasdaq:SRTI), a leading provider of service verification equipment for telecommunications, cable TV, and Internet networks, today announced the launch of the Scalable Test Toolkit (STT STT State Street Corporation (stock symbol)

), a next generation testing platform designed to meet the challenges associated with the design, installation, and maintenance of core, metro, and access networks.

The STT provides best-in-class solutions for central office technicians installing and troubleshooting today's hybrid networks running over DWDM (Dense WDM) The term given to wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) when significantly more channels were being added. Since WDM is increasingly more "dense" all the time, both terms are used synonymously. See WDM.

metro rings - integrating DWDM analysis, fiber cable testing, SONET/SDH testing up to 10 Gbps, and Ethernet testing. The STT advances network testing with several unique DWDM and SONET/SDH testing capabilities. By transmitting on and dropping out individual DWDM channels, operators can bring the advantages and precision of Bit Error Rate testing to DWDM networks. Never before has such comprehensive payload analysis been possible from within the DWDM network.

STT's platform modularity ensures that testing capabilities can evolve with the ever-changing communications network The transmission channels interconnecting all client and server stations as well as all supporting hardware and software. , protecting the user's investment for years to come. Its patent-pending stacking architecture offers unmatched flexibility. Within minutes, an STT can be transformed from a light, single module test set for the field to a multi-tasking combination test set for the lab. The multi-test architecture increases test efficiency. With the STT's unique stand-alone mode, users can operate any test module independently from the platform. The STT is based on Microsoft Windows See Windows.

"Sunrise Telecom has earned a reputation for listening closely to our customers," said Paul Chang, Chief Executive Officer. "The reality of today's telecom environment calls for reducing capital and operating expenses Operating expenses

, while at the same time deploying networks with more capacity, traffic density, and complexity than ever before. The STT addresses this situation. A test module deployed in stand-alone mode provides outstanding cost savings for service providers and equipment manufacturers. The intuitive user interface, multi-test architecture, and versatile feature set allow users to deploy and troubleshoot networks more quickly and effectively than ever before."

Sunrise Telecom has accepted orders for the STT from major domestic and international service providers. Initial product shipments are expected to begin later this month.
