Sunrise Senior Living acquires The Fountains for $508 million.

 Inc., began 2005 by acquiring The Fountains Continuum of Care Inc., a Tucson, Ariz.-headquartered owner and operator of senior living communities. Purchase price was $508 million, Sunrise Sunrise, city (1990 pop. 64,407), Broward co., SE Fla., a residential suburb 8 mi (13 km) W of Fort Lauderdale; inc. 1961 as Sunrise Golf Village. It is a major office and commercial center and the site of Sawgrass Mills, one of the largest malls in the United States.  reported.

Paul Klaassen, Sunrise's chair and chief executive officer, said the purchase includes management of all 19 of The Fountains' facilities and ownership of 18 of them, as well as several undeveloped parcels.

The Fountains has facilities in 13 states, all in areas where Sunrise operates, Klaassen said.
