Sundancing time.

Independent film aficionados in Los Angeles will be able to keep up with the 2007 Sundance Film Festival without dealing with the crowds in Park City, Utah.

Time Warner Cable will present "Festival Dailies" via its On Demand option--which allows subscribers to tune in to a particular program at any time--exclusively to its Los Angeles subscribers.

The shows will feature film clips, sales reports and interviews with actors and filmmakers. The reports from the festival, the premiere showcase for new works by American and international independent filmmakers, will begin on January 18 and continue through the 10-day event. Also available via On Demand will be "Sundance Channel Festival Favorites," a collection of past Sundance winners selected by Festival Director Geoff Gilmore.

The offerings are the latest volley in the ongoing battle for subscribers between Time Warner and El Segundo's DirecTV, the nation's largest satellite TV provider. Time Warner sees great potential in targeting content for a specific regional audience.

"Exclusive content and available on video On Demand is something that we have that satellite customers do not have access to," said Patty Rockenwagner, a Time Warner Cable spokeswoman. "I think you're seeing that On Demand content is expanding. That's something that we're very interested in doing and we're continuing to add content all the time." Among the films in the past winners series that will be available are "DIG," "Crossing Arizona," "Ellie Parker," "Forty Shades of Blue," "Last Life in the Universe," "Mysterious Skin," "Police Beat," "Tony Takitani" and "Wall."
