Sun Valley Labs Inc., sponsor of The Labradors of Sun Valley, a summer-long public art event in Sun Valley, Idaho <includeonly></includeonly> Sun Valley is a city and affluent resort community in the central part of the U.S. state of Idaho, adjacent to the city of Ketchum in Blaine County. , to promote art in the community and to enrich the lives of animals and people, has selected Dayton-based BusinessHere, Inc. to launch a private label online auction site at http://www.SunValleyLabsAuction.net.

Playing off the success of Chicago's much-heralded Cows on Parade and Cincinnati's Big Pig Gig From May 14 to October 31, 2000, Cincinnati, Ohio hosted the Big Pig Gig, a large-scale event in which local artists decorated fiberglass "flying pig" statues and displayed them throughout the downtown area. , Sun Valley has gone to the dogs with a celebration of fifty-painted, larger-than-life, fiberglass Labrador Retrievers This list of famous Labradors covers notable individual dogs that belong to this breed. "We are very excited to be affiliated with Sun Valley's LabArt auction," says Johnathan Skardon, president of BusinessHere. "Sun Valley is closely tying the online auction to their live auction, so it is giving us a great opportunity to blend the convenience of online bidding with the fun and excitement of a live event," said Skardon. By incorporating BusinessHere's pre-bidding auction feature, online bidders, who have the highest bids at the conclusion of the online auction, will have their bids transferred to the live auction where an auction agent will bid on their behalf during the live event.

According to Skardon, "We are providing online bidders with an unprecedented opportunity to bid for a Lab online and win without attending the live auction. We have essentially opened up the bidding process to anyone, anywhere, at any hour of the day." Officials at Sun Valley Labs believe this will help them generate more awareness about the auctions and raise additional proceeds for their fund-raising efforts from bidders outside the area.

Adopt-A-Labrador sponsors paid $2000 -- $4000 to have the dogs decorated and displayed on Sun Valley's streets for the summer. Beginning today, the entire first floor of the contemporary 511 Leadville Building in downtown Sun Valley will be turned into a "lab kennel" where all the Labs will be displayed prior to the live auction.

Proceeds from the auctions, expected to generate $100,000 -- $200,000, will benefit four animal related charities: The Animal Shelter "Dog Pound" redirects here. For the rap group, see Tha Dogg Pound.

An animal shelter is a facility that houses homeless, lost or abandoned animals; primarily a large variety of dogs and cats.
