Sun Microsystems Sun Microsystems, Inc. (NASDAQ: JAVA[3]) is an American vendor of computers, computer components, computer software, and information-technology services, founded on 24 February 1982. Inc has released the Java TV Java TV is the term used for a set-top box, for which the software is written in the object oriented programming language Java.

Toshiba Corp. The API is intended to be the first step in creating a
standard platform for interactive content and services, deliverable to
cable set-top boxes, satellite receivers and digital televisions. It is
aimed at manufacturers, content creators and service providers.
Currently under public review, the final version is expected in Q4
1999.
