Sun Power Corporation ("Sun Power")(OTCBB:SNPW)(Berlin Stock Exchange:SJP), is pleased to announce the appointment of Finley B. Foster to the position of president and chief executive officer to be effective Oct. 1, 2002.

Foster has over 30 years of experience in management of energy and high technology public and private companies. He has broad experience in developing and growing profitable companies through critical stages of development, while building successful management teams and business strategies. His experience includes co-founder, president and CEO of United Energy Services Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Gilbert Associates Inc. United provided a wide range of operations, engineering, construction and maintenance consulting services to industrial electricity producers. His broad experience in developing and growing profitable companies through critical growth transitions has also included chief operating officer of FutureNext Consulting, president and COO of SuperDistribution, Inc., and COO of MicroStar Company Inc.

Foster's experience also includes a wide range of consulting relationships as Sequoia Associates, and Aquiline Partners, Inc. in which he provided management direction in the formation of subsidiaries for public utilities, startup of private corporations, and development and implementation of strategic plans to achieve superior return for shareholders of both public and private companies. His experience includes management, design, engineering, construction, operations, and maintenance of large electrical power generation facilities, including plant manager at an operational dual unit nuclear powered electrical generation station.

Foster graduated with merit from the U.S. Naval Academy in June 1971 with a Bachelor of Science in Control Systems Engineering. He served as an officer in the U.S. Navy aboard a nuclear fast attack submarine, qualifying as nuclear chief engineering officer. Apart from Foster's proven operational management and leadership skills, Sun Power believes that Foster will define, manage and accelerate Sun Power's efforts to commercialize its products and services to supply alternative and renewable energy from solar power in the form of electrical power and mechanical energy to process water for reverse osmosis.

Sun Power holds patents and prototypes for a portfolio of breakthrough technologies that utilize focused solar mirror and unfocused solar ground blanket technology to produce hydrogen and water. The patented technology has been developed by two distinguished scientists, formerly from the Los Alamos National Laboratory, who now form part of the management team to operate Renewable Energy Corporation Ltd. ("RECO") and Sunspring Inc. ("Sunspring")

Renewable Energy Corporation ("RECO") has developed a system capable of producing pure hydrogen, methanol or ethanol using solar energy rather than fossil fuels. These products are produced from "renewable" feed stocks such as bio-mass, waste CO2 or "dirty" natural gas. RECO's system employs large mirrors that focus solar energy in a specially designed collection chamber. Within this patented collection chamber, temperatures above 2000 degrees C are used to disassociate various "fuel" feedstock such as CO2 to form CO and O2. The resulting CO is then used in the common water-gas shift reaction to produce pure hydrogen and oxygen. Hydrogen can then be reformed on-site into methanol or ethanol, or used to drive a gas turbine electrical generator. Unlike most hydrogen produced today, the process does not require burning of coal or natural gas, or produce any green house gas waste emissions. The process produces hydrogen 80% more efficiently than hydrolysis of water making it 80% less costly than other "green" sources of hydrogen, such as hydrolysis of water from wind generated electricity.

RECO's Los Alamos laboratory has completed phase 1 of development proving that hydrogen can be produced from CO2 to provide green house gas free energy at competitive prices. During phase 1, prototype converters have been developed to utilize biomass (rice straw) and dirty natural gas verifying the ability to provide electricity, ethanol, or methanol competitively.

Sunspring has developed a system to desalinate water without the use of fossil fuel or grid power, and to do so at a cost well below competitive water purification systems. Sunspring utilizes a patented large solar "mattress" filled with water and spread on the ground, to collect and store thermal energy. This energy is used to drive a proprietary MECH(R) pump, which pushes non-potable water through reverse osmosis (RO) membranes to produce drinking water. Sunspring can produce thermal energy in a form that can be utilized 24 hours / day to produce electricity or motive force to power pumps. The system is able to remove salts, heavy metals, bacteria, parasites and other pathogens that is patented, affordable, easily transportable, maintained, repaired and expanded. Working prototypes of the collector, and conversion to mechanical power technologies have been completed, demonstrating efficiencies needed to provide water and power at costs below current market value.
