Sun Orchard Inc. Recalls Non-Pasteurized Orange Juice Because of Possible Health Risk.


TEMPE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 28, 1999--

Sun Orchard Inc. of Tempe, Arizona Tempe (pronounced /tɛm.'piː/) is a city in Maricopa County, Arizona, USA, with a population of 169,712 according to 2006 Census Bureau estimates.  recalled, as of June 25th, all non-pasteurized orange juice supplied by the company because it has the potential to be contaminated contaminated,
v 1. made radioactive by the addition of small quantities of radioactive material.
2. made contaminated by adding infective or radiographic materials.
3. an infective surface or object.
 with Salmonella muenchen, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail, and elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

The Sun Orchard non-pasteurized orange juice was distributed in Arizona, California, Colorado, New Mexico New Mexico, state in the SW United States. Consumers who may have any of these products in their homes should destroy them or bring it back to the place where it was purchased.

The recall was the result of Salmonella meunchen reported by Washington State epidemiologists. Epidemiological techniques have indicated that the non-pasteurized orange juice was the likely source of 14 illnesses in Washington State and four illnesses in Oregon.

Incubation period 
 that is usually about one to three days. It can cause abdominal pain, severe diarrhea, fever, nausea, and vomiting. Dehydration may be severe, especially among infants or in the elderly, and fever is common. The condition often persists for several days.
