Sumner Hunting: Viacom Inc. Chairman Sumner Redstone Sumner Murray Redstone (born Sumner Murray Rothstein on May 27 1923 in Boston, Massachusetts) is majority owner and Chairman of the Board of the National Amusements theater chain. Through National Amusements, he is majority owner of Midway Games, Viacom and CBS Corporation.  abruptly fired his top executive Tom Freston last week and replaced him with two longtime advisors. Some analysts speculated that the move stemmed from the very public severing of ties two weeks earlier between the media giant and Tom Cruise, however Redstone denied that assertion. Freston's replacements will be current Viacom directors Philippe P. Dauman, who will assume Freston's title as chief executive, and Thomas E. Dooley Thomas E. Dooley is Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of Viacom. He has served at this post since September 2006, and assumed the position of Chief Financial Officer in January 2007.
