Summary of 2005 Drilling Results and Commencement of 2006 Work Program for Aberdene's New York Canyon Project.

LAS VEGAS -- Aberdene Mines Limited (the 'Company' or 'Aberdene') (OTCBB:ABRM) is pleased to provide a summary of its 2005 exploration results and details on the 2006 work program which will commence mid-March on the Company's New York Canyon project located in the Santa Fe Mining District, Mineral County, Nevada.

New York Canyon 2005 Exploration Results

Aberdene completed the 2005 exploration season in December with positive results from its drill program and surface sampling. The Company completed 14,856 feet of drilling in 37 holes. All holes were well mineralized and confirmed the copper content reported by historical operators. Twenty-eight of the holes were reverse circulation (RC) and the remaining nine holes were diamond-drill core holes. Two of the holes were completed on the Copper Queen porphyry copper-molybdenum sulphide zone with the balance completed as both infill and expansion drilling on the Longshot Ridge copper oxide zone.

The objective of the 2005 drill program was to validate results from historical exploration work and to define and delineate the mineralized zones on the New York Canyon property. The 2005 program was successful in confirming historic values and expanding the known areas of mineralization at the Copper Queen and Longshot Ridge zones. Additionally, surface sampling of copper oxide mineralization at Longshot Ridge confirmed the extent and tenor of mineralization over this area, indicating the continuity of mineralization over this zone with 357 samples averaging 0.581% copper. Significant drill hole intercepts such as 05-11 that returned an average of 0.695% copper over 340 feet from surface, including 1.114% copper over 170 feet, provide additional confirmation of the strength of the mineralized system (please see table). Hole 05-15, a core hole located in the central eastern portion of Longshot Ridge and previously unannounced, returned an average of 0.395% copper over a 130 foot interval from 10 to 140 feet.

Prior to Aberdene optioning the New York Canyon Property more than $5 million US had been spent on exploration, principally by Conoco, Coca Mines and Kookaburra Gold. The historical results of this work, as reported by these past companies and independent reports by CORE Engineering and WT Cohan & Associates and others, outlined areas of copper sulphide mineralization at Copper Queen and copper sulphide with a copper oxide cap at Longshot Ridge. Results from the drill programs conducted by Aberdene compare favorably with the historic data, however, the Company is not aware of the quality assurance or quality control procedures conducted during previous exploration and therefore does not rely on the historic data.

The company has retained the services of an independent consultant to provide a report complying to NI 43-101 standards and this is expected to be completed in the next few weeks.

$1.8 Million US Financing and 2006 Work Program to Commence mid-March

The Company has closed its recently announced $1.8 million US financing with the proceeds allocated for the initial 2006 work program scheduled to begin mid-March. A further 30,000 foot drill program, using two drills, will be undertaken on the property to in an effort to expand the mineralized area at Longshot Ridge, Copper Queen and the Champion prospects. In addition, a metallurgical sampling program will be undertaken to determine the optimal method of beneficiating the copper oxide mineralization at Longshot Ridge.
