Sumitomo Chemical to Increase Anti-Malaria Mosquito Net Production in Tanzania.


Tokyo, Japan, Sept 8, 2005 - (JCNN JCNN Japan Corporate News Network ) - Sumitomo Chemical announced on September 7 that it has decided to increase the production capacity of Olyset Net, its proprietary mosquito mosquito (məskē`tō), small, long-legged insect of the order Diptera, the true flies. The females of most species have piercing and sucking mouth parts and apparently they must feed at least once upon mammalian blood before their eggs can  net for preventing Malaria, in Tanzania. The company will set up Vector Health International Limited, a 50/50 joint venture with its local partner, Net Health Limited, and construct a new plant.

The new plant, which is slated for operation within fiscal 2005, will manufacture 4.2 million units of Olyset Net annually, increasing annual output capacity from the current 2 million to 8 million nets in Tanzania.

In addition, the new plant will create new jobs, stimulating local eonomy. Made from a special fabric interweaven with insecticides insecticides, chemical, biological, or other agents used to destroy insect pests; the term commonly refers to chemical agents only. Chemical Insecticides
, Olyset Net is the only long-lasting insecticide-treated net approved by the World Health Organization.
