Sumitomo Chemical to Expand MMA Monomer Production in Korea.


Tokyo, Japan, Aug 24, 2005 - (JCNN JCNN Japan Corporate News Network ) - Sumitomo Chemical announced on August 22 that its South Korean affiliate LG MMA (Microcomputer Managers Association, Inc.) A membership organization with chapters throughout the U.S. that was devoted to educating personnel responsible for personal computers. It disbanded in 1996.

Sumitomo Chemical positions its MMA business as the mainstay business in its Basic Chemical Sector, and is actively expanding its operations focusing on the Asian market.

In Singapore, Sumitomo Chemical plans to undertake another capacity expansion at its MMA plant, with commercial operation slated for the first quarter of 2008. When the Singapore plant has an additional capacity, the company will have a total annual MMA monomer production capacity of 489,000 tons in Japan, Singapore and South Korea.
