Suit fits just fine for a few lucky ducks.

Pretending to be the University of Oregon The University of Oregon is a public university located in Eugene, Oregon. The university was founded in 1876, graduating its first class two years later. The University of Oregon is one of 60 members of the Association of American Universities.  Duck mascot MASCOT - Modular Approach to Software Construction Operation and Test: a method for software design aimed at real-time embedded systems from the Royal Signals and Research Establishment, UK.  is a good excuse to act like a 5-year-old child, and that's exactly what four UO students did Thursday night at McArthur Court McArthur Court is a basketball arena located on the campus of the University of Oregon in Eugene. Also known as "The Pit," it is known as one of the toughest arenas in the country for opposing players to play in. The arena is named for Clifton N. .

Each acted silly by dressing up in the Duck costume, dancing to loud music, somersaulting across the hardwood floor and, of course, taking a bow to conclude their antics.

Pretending to be a Duck was a great way for the students to audition to become the UO mascot next school year, but they said becoming the Duck would be even better - a dream come true.

"It's something I really want to do and love to do," a 21-year-old sophomore said. He was eventually selected along with two other men to be the Duck at games and school and community events. The fourth candidate was a woman.

To ensure the Duck's integrity, the judges asked that the candidates remain nameless. However, they said six to 14 students try out for the honor of becoming the Duck each year and four or five are chosen to share the duty.

For next school year, that means the three new Ducks will join two veteran Ducks and rotate their schedules. Each will average one or more events or games per week.

Thursday night, the auditioning students' brief interviews, mimes and impromptu performances drew laughter from the four judges - UO cheerleading The examples and perspective in this article or section may not represent a worldwide view of the subject.

One candidate got the judges to dance with him during his skit. Another 21-year-old candidate sported a pink tutu tutu

The judges laughed, then the rock music began. "I want to be a Duck," the song proclaimed, and the Duck lost his tutu.

When the final scores were tallied, the three men were rated highest. But they won't learn until today that they were chosen to represent the school.

"The hard thing is, I like them all," Laraine Raish said as the judges discussed the candidates and performances. Each had musical, cheerleading or mascot experience.

"They're the best. What a breath of fresh air," she said. "This is the best group I've had."

After their performances, the four candidates gathered in a downstairs room. "We wish we could all win," one man said. "You have to be a little crazy to want to be a Duck, so we all have that in common."
