Sudbury hosts Premier's Awards.

 in Sudbury have successfully hosted the Association of Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology of Ontario (ACAATO ACAATO Association of Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology of Ontario (Canada) ) Conference and Premier's Awards Ceremony. Held for the first time in Northern Ontario, the event took place on Feb. 19 and 20, featuring prominent speakers such as Stephen Lewis, UN Special Envoy for HIV/Aids in Africa The HIV/AIDS epidemics spreading through the countries of Sub-Saharan Africa are highly varied. Although it is not correct to speak of a single African epidemic, Africa is without doubt the region most affected by the virus. ; Ontario Opposition Leader John ToryP; and Jodi White, president of Public Policy Forum. Highlights of the conference were the Minister's Lifetime Achievement Awards, the ACAATO Awards, and the Doug Light Award, La Soiree soi·ree also soi·rée

Of the eight ACAATO Awards presented, two Sudbury residents were recognized. Cambrian College's Cheri Corbiere, president of the Cambrian Native Student's Association, who received the Student Innovation Award, and College Boreal's Louise Gervais-Guy, counsellor at the Learning Support Services support services Psychology Non-health care-related ancillary services–eg, transportation, financial aid, support groups, homemaker services, respite services, and other services , received the 2005 Distinguished Service Award.
