Sudbury EDC names new board members.

) has selected Science North's director of business development, Guy Labine, as its chair for 2006-07.

Labine succeeds Steve Irwin.

Labine has been at Science North for five years. Prior to that, he served as director general of the Sudbury Regional Development Corporation (SRDC SRDC Southern Rural Development Center

), where he championed the e-sudbury.com project. He was a municipal councillor in Rayside-Balfour (now a part of the amalgamated city) from 1988-1993.

Joining Labine are former Sudbury mayor and MPP (Massively Parallel Processing or Massively Parallel Processor) A multiprocessing architecture that uses up to thousands of processors. Some might contend that a computer system with 64 or more CPUs is a massively parallel processor.  Jim Gordon, Risto Laamanen, president of Laamanen Construction Ltd., and Northern Ontario Business Northern Ontario Business is a Canadian magazine, which publishes monthly in Greater Sudbury, Ontario. The magazine covers business news and issues in Northern Ontario.  publisher and general manager Patricia Mills.

The new board members assumed their duties at the start of June and will serve through to 2009.
