Physician Leadership on National Drug Policy has issued a report containing policy recommendations aimed at lawmakers, public health officials and the justice system in the prevention, screening and assessment of adolescents prone to or affected by drug abuse. Recommendations include a role for the education community in curbing and treating teen-age drug abuse.

The report points to a growing body of evidence suggesting that prevention and treatment are more efficient and cost effective than incarceration alone.
