Effective immediately, the micro-purchase threshold outside the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area. is $25,000 and the simplified acquisition threshold outside the United States is $1,000,000. These thresholds are applicable only for contracts to be awarded and performed, or purchases to be made, outside the United States in support of a contingency operation A military operation that is either designated by the Secretary of Defense as a contingency operation or becomes a contingency operation as a matter of law (10 United States code (USC) 101[a][13]).
