Burbank-based Disney has announced plans to build one of two proposed theme parks in Southern California during this decade, unveiling a plan last July for a water-based theme park on the Long Beach shore and making public in May a plan for a 470-acre theme park adjacent to Disneyland. Company officials say they will announce their decision on a location by the end of this year.

In general, Port Disney is projected to generate more economic activity each year in its adjacent community than would Disneyland Resort, $1.7 billion compared to $1.2 billion, according to reports prepared on each project by Kotin, Regan & Mouchly Inc., a Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  real estate counsulting firm. The cost of developing each project is estimated at $3 billion.

Port Disney would also generate more tax revenue than would Disneyland Resort. About $9 million would be generated each year in taxes for Los Angeles County by the ocean-oriented park, while about $6 million annully would be produced in Orange County by a second park beside Disneyland, the report states.

In addition, each park would have a substantial impact on Southern California at large. Port Disney would create 48,000 jobs in Southern California, while Disneyland Resort would provide 41,200 jobs to the region, the reports estimate.

Cumulative fiscal revenues to the City of Anaheim as a result of Disneyland Resort are estimated at about $2.9 billion through 2057, while cumulative fiscal revenues to the City of Long Beach as a result of Port Disney are estimated at $3.7 billion. [Tabular tab·u·lar
