Students invited to pro-choice celebration.

High school and college students in Lane County are invited to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Roe vs. Wade ruling at a public gathering Jan. 21.

The celebration, with music and food, begins at 6 p.m. at The Wild Duck restaurant, 169 W. Sixth Ave. Alcohol will not be served.

State Superintendent of Public Instruction Susan Castillo Susan Castillo (born August 14 1951) heads the Oregon Department of Education as the Superintendent of Public Instruction.[1] Although she currently holds an elective statewide non-partisan office, she is a Democrat, and served from 1997 to 2003 in the Oregon State  is expected to speak at the event, which recognizes the U.S. Supreme Court decision in 1973 that guaranteed a woman's right to an abortion.

The celebration, one of six being held statewide by a pro-choice coalition, is sponsored by the University of Oregon The University of Oregon is a public university located in Eugene, Oregon. The university was founded in 1876, graduating its first class two years later. Students for Choice will serve a 30th anniversary cake that day at the Erb Memorial Union on campus, starting at noon.
