Student branch to take on Tampa. (National Student Branch). The NRPA NRPA National Recreation and Park Association NRPA Natural Resources Protective Association (Staten Island, NY) NRPA Niagara Regional Police Association (Canada) NRPA National Rifle and Pistol Association Student Branch takes full advantage of the yearly NRPA Congress to meet other students and professionals, learn more about parks and recreation, and have a little fun. This year the branch has dedicated a committee to plan events for the Tampa Tampa (tăm`pə), city (1990 pop. 280,015), seat of Hillsborough co., W Fla., a port of entry with an impressive harbor on Tampa Bay; inc. 1855. Congress, and the chair, Beth Wilmarth, is organizing the unprecedented 12-person group. Hoping to repeat the huge success from Denver Denver, city (1990 pop. 467,610), alt. 5,280 ft (1,609 m), state capital, coextensive with Denver co., N central Colo., on a plateau at the foot of the Front Range of the Rocky Mts., along the South Platte River where Cherry Creek meets it; inc. 1861. , the Congress Planning Committee planning committee n (in local government) → comité m de planificación is teaming up with the American Park and Recreation Society to make a student pavilion in the Tampa Convention Center The Tampa Convention Center is a mid-sized convention center located in Downtown Tampa, Florida. Its location is ideal because it has both waterfront views, and views of the skyline. . Don't let the name discourage you; the pavilion is open to everyone attending Congress. It's not only a place for students to meet other students, but will also serve to let professionals interact, too. Information can be found there on all kinds of socials, events, sessions, schools, jobs, internships and more. The student pavilion would not be possible without the support of APRS APRS Automatic Position Reporting System APRS Automatic Packet Reporting System (GPS technology) APRS Automated Position Reporting System APRS Amateur Position Reporting System APRS American Parks and Recreation Society . Stop by and learn a little more about students, and let the students learn a little more about you. Members of the Student Branch are a diverse group, and not all are working on bachelor degrees. Many are graduate students, and the branch is planning on repeating the popular Graduate School Reception in Tampa. The event allows current and future graduate students to meet one another and representatives from schools from across the nation. Done in conjunction with the Society for Park and Recreation Educators, it has proved to be an engaging experience for all involved. The Student Branch extends its appreciation to SPRE SPRE Software Process Risk Evaluation for helping to make the reception so beneficial to so many. Much of the money the Student Branch needs to produce events and socials comes from the fundraisers like the American Park and Recreation Society Silent Auction held every year at Congress. APRS extends a very generous opportunity to the Student Branch by allowing them to donate and sell items in the auction to raise money. If you would like to help the students attend Congress and participate in the variety of activities, make a donation to the auction or purchase one of the Student Branch items. For more information on how to buy or sell an item, contact Katie Lillo, Student Branch communications director, at klillo@calpoly.edu. |
