In addition to the student's studies and outside job commitments, they are actively involved in activities both on and off campus. One of the society's biggest projects during the year is raising money for the Four Diamonds Fund, which benefits children with cancer. Over 30 years ago, the dance marathon started as a simple dance competition on the campus of Penn State University. . THON as it's termed, is the largest student-run philanthropy in the world. The society feels that by attending Congress their students are, "receiving an invaluable experience."
