 was shot by thugs who attempted, but failed, to rob his store.

On September 26, three robbers entered Kendal's Grocery and Jamaican Cuisine to rob the store. The store owner, Kevin Winter, wouldn't heed the robbers' demands, and so one of them shot him in the hip. Then, a clerk in the store, Steven Gray, came to Winter's aid. He began firing a pistol at the robbers, hitting one, sending them all fleeing.

 and managed to drive off, but they drove too quickly. Some nearby police officers noticed the speeding car and pursued the criminals. And when the criminals tried to bring their injured in·jure
