Struggle for and against life and the family.

-- There seems to be a perpetual struggle by feminists and homosexualists to distort the U.N.'s policies.

Homosexualism

Notwithstanding their known pedophilic associations, homosexualist organizations continue to seek full international recognition of "gay rights." In March, 2006, homosexualists redoubled re·dou·ble

their efforts to have the former Commission on Human Rights introduce a clause to an official document banning discrimination on the basis of "sexual orientation;" to date Christians and Muslims have successfully thwarted their attempts. The recognition of "gay rights" would impede religious freedom to criticize the homosexual lifestyle.

The International Lesbian and Gay Association The International Lesbian and Gay Association (ILGA) is an international organization bringing together more than 400 lesbian and gay groups from around the world. It continues to be active in campaigning for gay rights on the international human rights and civil rights  (ILGA ILGA Illinois General Assembly

ILGA's subsequent attempts at reinstatement have consistently been voted down. In May, ILGA's European wing as well as the Lesbian and Gay Federation of Germany were denied consultative status (C-Fam, March 24, 2006; May 26, 2006).

Feminism

Meanwhile, feminists continue to pursue goals which have the long-term effect of harming women. In May came the thirtieth anniversary of work by the United Nations Development Fund for Women The United Nations Development Fund for Women, commonly known as UNIFEM, provides financial and technical assistance to innovative programmes and strategies that promote women’s human rights, political participation and economic security.  (U.N. News Service, May 15, 2006). These very well-intentioned efforts to "empower" women tend to destabilize societies over time by dislocating men-which ultimately hurts both sexes.

Later that month, the executive director of the United Nation Population Fund (UNFPA UNFPA United Nations Population Fund (formerly United Nations Fund for Population Activities)
UNFPA United Nations Fund for Population Activities (now United Nations Population Fund)
) pledged that computers would be given to a reproductive health clinic in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Demonstrating her agency's chronic lack of coherence, she also addressed the Grand Conference of Imams--which, bizarrely, receives UNFPA funding--and praised Islam's ostensible Apparent; visible; exhibited.

Ostensible authority is power that a principal, either by design or through the absence of ordinary care, permits others to believe his or her agent possesses.
benefits to girls and women (U.N. News Service, May 19, 2006).

In June, the advisory U.N. Millenium Project declared that "sexual and reproductive health" are essential to achieving the otherwise innocuous Millenium Development Goals (such as reducing maternal and child mortality rates, by means of opposing genital mutilation and preventing obstetric fistula) (C-Faro, June 16, 2006). UNFPA leaders have collaborated with the World Health Organization to advance the "liberalization lib·er·al·ize

To make liberal or more liberal: "Our standards of private conduct have been greatly liberalized . . .
" of abortion laws, i.e., seek more abortions. U.N. agencies promote contraception and abortion rather than abstinence and fidelity as solutions to poverty, disease and sexually transmitted infections (UNFPA, June 22, 2006).

In August, nations clashed over the language in a binding international human rights treaty for the disabled. The International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities concluded August 25 with overall success for pro-lifers. First, the ambiguous term "gender" was mostly replaced by the better word "sex."

Second, language was rejected which seemed to guarantee a new right to sexual relations for people with disabilities. (This would have been interpreted as obliging governments to provide the services of prostitutes to sexually inactive persons with disabilities.)

Third, the document may help to protect the disabled from euthanasia, as the word "worth" was returned to the traditional phrase "dignity and worth;" food and water were guaranteed for those with disabilities who are terminally ill; and the right to life was affirmed for all.

Fourth, "though the term 'sexual and reproductive health' made it into the final document, it only came after all sides of the debate reached consensus that the phrase did not include abortion (our emphasis)."

Nevertheless, the Holy See "objected to the phrase all together, despite the fact that their objection went unrecognized until after the gavel gavel

came down (C-Fam, August 31, 2006)." Terms like "reproductive health" have not been defined in previous documents, but the U.N. General Assembly does not interpret the phrase to include abortion. To this point countries have usually interpreted the phrase in non-binding usage, according to their respective national policies (C-Fam, Aug. 10, 25, 2006). "Conservative UN experts remain concerned because the phrase continues to be misinterpreted by some UN agencies, members of human rights compliance committees, as well as radical NGOs (C-Fam, Aug. 31, 2006)."

Canada's destructive role

Canada has become notorious for pushing feminist and homosexualist destruction on the international scene. For instance, in April, 2006, as the U.N. Commission on Population and Development The Commission on Population and Development is one of the ten Functional Commissions of the United Nations Economic and Social Council. At its establishment by ECOSOC in October 1946, the Commission's name was "Population Commission  considered the theme of "International Migration and Development," the Canadian delegation instead prioritized its very own agenda of "sexual and reproductive health rights." LifeSiteNews.com offered the headline: "Under New Conservative Government Canada Still Obsessed ob·sess

With Abortion and Homosexuality at U.N." (April 5, 2006).

So far neither the change to a Conservative government--nor the subsequent appointment of career diplomat John McNee to replace Liberal Allan Rock as Canadian ambassador to the U.N.--have improved Canada's international focus.
