Structural Preservation Systems Acquires Corrosion Restoration Technologies, Inc.

BALTIMORE -- Structural Preservation Systems, Inc. (SPS) -- a unit of Structural Group, a $200 million Baltimore-based specialty-contracting firm that delivers services, systems and technologies that build, repair, protect, strengthen and reinforce concrete, steel, masonry, timber and soils -- has announced the acquisition of Corrosion Restoration Technologies, Inc. (CRT).

With headquarters in Jupiter, Fla., CRT specializes in applying engineered solutions to structures with corrosion problems. Founded in 1993, CRT is a recognized leader in corrosion diagnosis, design and monitoring. Services include corrosion engineering, metalizing, cathodic protection, thermal spray coatings and concrete evaluation testing. CRT's staff includes professional engineers, certified corrosion specialists and experienced technicians.

CRT also has pioneered a unique technology for corrosion protection of reinforced concrete and steel structures - high production rate wire arc metalizing equipment. The custom thermal spray is used for the installation of surface conforming anodes on concrete structures. Applications include zinc and aluminum anodes for sacrificial cathodic protection of steel and reinforced concrete structures, as well as the application of titanium anodes for impressed current systems. CRT has participated in more than 80 percent of all United States projects using the technology to date.

"CRT's project approach is synergistic with Structural Preservation Systems' approach."

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
