What creature takes top honors for having the strongest bite? Tyrannosaurus Tyrannosaurus (tīrăn'ōsôr`əs, tĭr–) [Gr.,=tyrant lizard], member of a family, Tyrannosauridae, of bipedal carnivorous saurischian dinosaurs characterized by having strong hind limbs, a muscular tail, and short  Rex, once king of the dinos, is the undefeated champ. "A T. rex bite has the weight of a pickup truck behind each tooth" says Gregory Erickson, zoologist (animal scientist) at Brown University in Rhode Island. Scientists have suspected for years that T. rex is the chomp (jargon) chomp - To fail.  king, but Erickson set out to determine the exact force of the dino's bite. He examined tooth impressions made by a T. rex on a triceratops Triceratops (trīsĕr`ətŏps) [Gr., = three-horn face], genus of ornithischian quadruped dinosaurs of the late Cretaceous period.  (large horned dinosaur) bone. He then used a force-measuring machine to duplicate the exact force of T. rex's bite on a similar-sized cow bone.
