Stream International to Open New Customer Interaction Center in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia; Expects to employ over 900 local Glace Bay residents.

Stream International, a global Customer Relationship Management (CRM) outsourcing and support services provider for leading technology companies and e-businesses, the Government of Canada and the Province of Nova Scotia through their economic development organization, the Cape Breton Growth Fund (CBGF), announced today that Stream has selected Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, for its next Canadian Customer Interaction Center. Once fully operational, Stream expects the Customer Interaction Center to employ up to 900 employees.

Stream has begun recruiting for all levels of employment positions, including customer interaction agents, mentors, team managers and service delivery managers. The company expects to be able to fill its site management positions primarily from the local Cape Breton Region. Management and staff positions at Stream are available in finance, human resources, facilities, information technology, telecom, operations planning, training and quality management.

Stream has received cooperation and funding from a number of sources. The Cape Breton Growth Fund will contribute CAN$10,000,000 to the project, conditional upon the creation and maintenance of the 900 jobs. In the first year Stream will also receive various rent subsidies, in addition to a CAN$2,000,000 contribution from the Human Resources Development Canada (HRDC).

In connection with the new location, Stream has entered into a ten-year lease for the former General Mining Building located at 95 Union Street in Glace Bay. The site will become Stream's third Canadian site and twenty-second overall. Stream expects to complete the build-out of the Customer Interaction Center in October and will be fully operational by the end of November.
