Foundry Networks(TM), Inc. Stream, which maintains separate SONET and ATM Metropolitan networks, will deploy Foundry's NetIron Internet backbone routers to offer the first high-speed Gigabit Ethernet service in Canada. Stream will integrate their SONET and ATM infrastructures with Gigabit Ethernet to create seamless, next-generation Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs) enabling end-to-end provisioning of Metro Ethernet services across multiple network technologies. With Foundry's Global Ethernet technology, Stream will seamlessly transport Ethernet traffic over the LAN, MAN and WAN. Global Ethernet, combined with Foundry's Super VLAN Aggregation capability, will support up to 16 million VLANs and enable carriers and service providers to deploy VLAN-based virtual private network services.
