Canada's Fastest Growing Competitive Access Provider Deploys

Foundry's Global Ethernet to Deliver High-Speed and Cost-Effective

Ethernet Services to Carriers, Service Providers and Enterprises

Foundry Networks(TM), Inc. (Nasdaq:FDRY), a leader in high-performance, end-to-end switching and routing solutions, and Stream Intelligent Networks Corp., Canada's fastest growing Competitive Access Provider (CAP) and a leading Canadian supplier of carrier-class, point-to-point, high-speed fiber optic and wireless digital broadband services, today announced that Stream will deploy Foundry's NetIron(TM) Internet backbone routers with Foundry's innovative Global Ethernet technology to deliver end-to-end Metropolitan Gigabit Ethernet services.

Stream, which maintains separate SONET and ATM Metropolitan networks, will deploy Foundry's NetIron Internet backbone routers to offer the first high-speed Gigabit Ethernet service in Canada. Stream will integrate their SONET and ATM infrastructures with Gigabit Ethernet to create seamless, next-generation Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs) enabling end-to-end provisioning of Metro Ethernet services across multiple network technologies. With Foundry's Global Ethernet technology, Stream will seamlessly transport Ethernet traffic over the LAN (Local Area Network) A communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area. The "clients" are the user's workstations typically running Windows, although Mac and Linux clients are also used. , MAN and WAN. Global Ethernet, combined with Foundry's Super VLAN See virtual LAN.

Aggregation capability, will support up to 16 million VLANs and enable carriers and service providers to deploy VLAN-based virtual private network services.

"Foundry's NetIron Internet backbone routers enable us to build high-speed Gigabit Ethernet services cost-effectively. In addition, Foundry's Global Ethernet technology allows us to transport native Ethernet frames across our SONET and ATM network infrastructure, which protects our existing investments and expands our service offering," said Bob MacCallum, chief technology officer of Stream Intelligent Networks Corp. "Unifying Ethernet across the LAN, MAN, and WAN, allows us to provision cost-effective, high-speed, carrier-class network services that support multiple traffic types such as Voice-Over-IP, Video on Demand/Conferencing, and Internet services. Being the first to deploy Gigabit Ethernet services in Canada as well as a pioneer for delivering Ethernet services across ATM and SONET, are major milestones in the carrier industry and we believe will put Stream in a leadership position for delivering true high-speed broadband services," continued MacCallum.
