) and IBM(R) Corp. (NYSE: IBM) today announced an agreement to provide IBM'S MQSeries for HP-UX(1) on Stratus' Continuum Enterprise Server, an industry-leading family of fault-tolerant computers running Hewlett-Packard's HP-UX operating system. Now for the first time, users of distributed solutions based upon IBM's MQSeries commercial messaging technology will be able to include Stratus' continuously available servers running the HP-UX operating system in their client-server networks. Existing applications which run under the HP-UX operating system will run on the Continuum Enterprise Server as is, with no special programming or recompilation Re`com`pi`la´tion

 required.

The Continuum Enterprise Server brings an array of fault-tolerant features to users of IBM's MQSeries commercial messaging, including redundant hardware with hot pluggability, sophisticated self-checking, and self-diagnosing logic. No user programming is needed to access the server's fault-tolerant features. The Continuum Enterprise Server is backed by Stratus' Remote Service Network (RSN RSN - Real Soon Now )(tm) which is designed to meet the needs of customers running critical online applications. RSN operates as a continuous direct line between the customer site and Stratus' Customer Assistance Center, and is monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

"As information more increasingly becomes a distributed resource, the servers which supply this information often surface as the 'Achilles heel' in an otherwise well-architected client-server network," said John Scanlon, Vice President of Marketing for Stratus' Continuum Products Division. "More and more, these applications and networks will require a continuously available computing platform See platform.  like the Continuum Enterprise Server to guarantee that services continue uninterrupted, even in the event of a hardware failure."

"The industry trend toward the integration of different vendors systems has created interdependencies that could not have been anticipated when many of these applications were originally created," said Colin Osborne Colin Osborne (born 19 June 1975) is an English darts player who was born in Middlesbrough and is nicknamed The Wizard.

Osborne has won one PDC Tour Event (the Sheppey Classic in 2006) and reached the latter stages of several other PDC Pro Tour events including the
, business unit manager for MQSeries. "While MQSeries products with their store and forward technology, do an excellent job of providing secure and recoverable hetrogeneous interoperability of applications, all users benefit when critical resource points within the network remain accessible at all times. Adding MQSeries to Stratus fault tolerant The ability to continue non-stop when a hardware failure occurs. A fault-tolerant system is designed from the ground up for reliability by building multiples of all critical components, such as CPUs, memories, disks and power supplies into the same computer.  systems provides impressive reliability and user confidence."

About MQSeries for HP-UX

MQSeries, IBM's leading messaging middleware, provides a robust communications layer that makes it simple for applications to interoperate across a network. Available on over 20 platforms, MQSeries is already being used to link Lotus Notes to transaction-based systems and will soon be used to extend to the reach of SAP R/3 client/server environments.

MQSeries, via the Message Queue Interface (MQI MQI Message Queue Interface
MQI MQseries Integrator
MQI Quincy, Massachusetts
MQI Manufacturing Quality Instruction
) assures delivery of messages, takes care of network interfaces and protocols, and in the event of a system problem, it deals with recovery. With MQSeries commercial messaging software, users can concentrate on providing for their business needs without worrying about the underlying complexities.
