) today announced the availability of HP SoftBench on the Continuum(r) Enterprise Server, a family of fault-tolerant computers featuring HP's HP-UX HP's version of Unix that runs on its 9000 family. It is based on SVID and incorporates features from BSD Unix along with several HP innovations.

Today's announcement builds upon and extends existing technology agreements between Stratus and HP, which began in 1993, when they partnered to incorporate the PA-RISC (Precision Architecture-RISC) A proprietary RISC-based CPU architecture from HP that was introduced in 1986. It is the foundation of HP's 3000 and 9000 computer families. See IA-64.  architecture into the Stratus Continuum product family of fault-tolerant computers.
