Strategic Technology Systems, Inc. Receives Additional Orders for Tornado MIL-STD-1760 Pylon Decoder Unit.


TRENTON, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 18, 1999--Strategic Technology Systems, Inc. announced today it has received a modification to its 2nd Batch production Batch production is a manufacturing process used to produce or process any product in batches, as opposed to a continuous production process, or a one-off production. The primary characeristic of batch production is that all components are completed at a workstation before they  contract for an additional 140 of its MIL-STD-1760 Class II compatible Tornado aircraft Pylon pylon

The Pylon Decoder Unit 90 (PDU-90), is responsible, along with other devices on the Tornado, to provide MIL-STD-1760 Class II compatible interfaces for modern aircraft stores. The option quantities bring the total order to over 650 PDU-90s. This increases the current contract value to $8,300,000 with still additional options possible.

Strategic Technology designed and produced the complete Stores Management System for the German and Italian versions of the Tornado, as well as the Air-to-Air Missile Noun 1. air-to-air missile - a missile designed to be launched from one airplane at another

 Unit, Gun Electronic Units and the MW1 Intervalometer Control System. The Company also provides a software support facility for all Stores Management System tactical software. The Tornado is expected to be in service until 2025.

The PDU-90 is one mid-life upgrade component of Strategic Technology's Tornado Stores Management System, which currently outfits some 500 Tornado aircraft.

Strategic Technology has a compliment of eighteen related stores management "boxes" flying on the German and Italian variants of the Tornado. Strategic Technology also provides the British Tornado with an Air-to-Air Missile Unit and Gun Electronic Units.
