Strategic Technology Systems, Inc. Awarded Harpoon Weapons Interface Unit Contract.

TRENTON, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 23, 1998--Strategic Technology Systems, Inc. announced Tuesday that it has been awarded a contract from The Boeing Company, for the design, development and production of a Harpoon Weapons Interface Unit (WIU) as part of Boeing's newly designed Advanced Harpoon Weapon Control System (AHWCS).

The WIU is intended for use in three launcher configurations without modification: ship, submarine and coastal defense platforms.

The WIU's internal controller is based on hardware and software recently developed by Strategic Technology for use in its new F/A-18 Interference Blanker Unit (IBU), now being flight tested on a F/A-18F at China Lake. The WIU software is written in Ada and will be entirely reprogrammable via its MIL-STD-1553 data bus.

Edward J. Klinsport, Strategic Technology's President and CEO said, "We are extremely happy that the technology developed for one Boeing program (F/A-18 IBU) can be ported to a different platform on another Boeing program, thus reducing risk and saving significant development costs."

Strategic Technology Systems, Inc. is a diversified technology-driven company specializing in weapons management, electronic warfare, airborne data acquisition, secure communications and space qualified systems for defense and commercial applications.
