Process Eliminates Need for Expensive Machine

Tool During Test Pilots

(Nasdaq:SSYS) Rapid prototyping Building a part one layer at a time using a method of additive fabrication such as 3D printing. Such parts are used for concept modeling to determine if the product design meets the customer's expectations.  system maker, Stratasys, today announced it will begin selling rapid tooling technology in North America North America, third largest continent (1990 est. pop. 365,000,000), c.9,400,000 sq mi (24,346,000 sq km), the northern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere. . It has signed an agreement with MK Technology, GmbH, Germany to be the exclusive selling organization of its vacuum casting vacuum casting

system, which allows users to produce short runs of parts from silicon molds.

The casting process uses a rapid prototype as a pattern to create a mold. With the mold, parts can be made in just a few hours. Users can choose from a spectrum of resins to suit their end-product properties. This "soft-tool" process eliminates the need for an expensive steel machine tool during the test-pilot stage.

The vacuum casting process will be demonstrated at the Stratasys booth (# 401) during the Rapid Prototyping and Manufacturing Conference in Cincinnati, April 30 to May 2.

Partnering with Stratasys and MK Technology, is The Axson Group, which will supply the resins, training, and molding expertise from its Detroit offices. Headquartered in France, The Axson Group has provided polymers to the aeronautics, automotive, consumer goods consumer goods
