IRVINE & WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 18, 2003

Combined Solution Provides Easy to Deploy, Fabric-Neutral Platform for Volume Management, Snapshot, Migration, and Replication Services

StoreAge Networking Technologies, an innovator in enterprise SAN storage management and Troika Networks, a pioneer of the Network Storage Services Platform approach to SAN-based intelligence, today announced that StoreAge has completed porting its volume management, snapshot, migration, and replication solutions to Troika's Network Storage Services Platform. (TM), multiView(TM), multiCopy(TM), and multiMirror(TM) applications are now running successfully on Troika's NSS (Novell Storage Services) A 64-bit file system introduced with NetWare 5 that can support terabyte-sized files. NSS files and standard NetWare files can be used in the same server. See NetWare 5.

Platform, providing the benefits of StoreAge's storage management software on Troika's easy-to-deploy architecture for network-based storage services. The combined solution is being field tested now in multiple beta sites on Troika's generally available NSS platform.

The combined solution provides the power of StoreAge's storage management software with Troika's high performance, fabric agnostic, open platform for hosting network-based storage services software. The StoreAge suite of SAN storage management products provides users with a comprehensive set of business continuity tools that run in a heterogeneous environment Using hardware and system software from different vendors. Organizations often use computers, operating systems and databases from a variety of vendors. Contrast with homogeneous environment. . Troika's Network Storage Services Platform provides hardware data acceleration and a superior way for system vendors and storage application providers to develop and deploy storage services such as StoreAge's volume management, virtualization An umbrella term for enhancing a computer's ability to do work. Following are the ways virtualization is used.

, snapshot, mirroring, migration, and replication. Troika's NSS Platform is highly compatible with heterogeneous Fibre Channel fabric A Fibre Channel fabric (or Fibre Channel switched fabric, FC-SW) is a switched fabric of Fibre Channel devices enabled by a Fibre Channel switch. Fabrics are normally subdivided by Fibre Channel zoning. Each fabric has a name server and provides other services.  switch vendors, removes the performance issues surrounding existing SAN appliances, and can easily be deployed in existing fabrics. By utilizing Troika's NSS Platform, StoreAge is able to expand its support for host operating systems Operating systems can be categorized by technology, ownership, licensing, working state, usage, and by many other characteristics. In practice, many of these groupings may overlap.  and take advantage of Troika's very high performance hardware for storage applications.

"Troika's NSS Platform enables rapid time-to-market for providing our software in intelligent networks," said Mark Spowart, president of StoreAge. "Troika expands our ability to integrate our advanced SAN volume management, snapshot, mirroring, data replication and data migration software into Fibre Channel fabrics, regardless of host operating system operating system (OS)

"StoreAge has demonstrated the ease and benefit of porting to Troika's architecture," comments Doug Rainbolt, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. "Having the StoreAge software available on our platform helps take our technology to end users as a complete solution. The combined StoreAge-Troika solution provides users with a way to efficiently manage storage capacity and advanced storage services in the network across heterogeneous servers and storage systems."

About StoreAge multiView, multiCopy and multiMirror

multiView creates instant, read/write, reduced-capacity snapshots (logical copies) of any volume on any storage device in a SAN. Each snapshot is a fraction of the size of the original volume, and may be mounted by any host on the SAN for any purpose, such as zero-downtime backup and rapid online restores. multiCopy creates instantly available, read/write, physical copies of any volume on any storage device in a SAN, enabling data to be seamlessly copied, moved and re-purposed for tasks such as data migration and application testing, while leaving production servers uninvolved un·in·volved

in the data replication and movement process. multiMirror is an innovative copy facility that enables the creation of multiple physical copies of volumes, regardless of storage subsystems and SAN components. Each copy is independently accessible and instantly available, allowing production servers to access data while the copy operation is in process.
