Store gets green light.A SUPERMARKET project promising 200 new jobs and a pounds 25m investment for a former pit town has been given the go-ahead.Wansbeck Wansbeck is a local government district in south-east Northumberland, England. Its main settlements are Ashington, Bedlington and Newbiggin-by-the-Sea. The district is mostly urban, on the North Sea coast north of the Tyneside conurbation. Council's planners put their seal of approval on the development of a new Asda store in Ashington Coordinates:
Ashington is a town in Northumberland, England, with a population of around 28,000 people. , with an overwhelming vote in favour of it. The project has now to be referred to the Government Office North East to be assessed in relation to overall retail developments in the region. But Asda is confident that GONE will also back the development, given the support that it has already received locally.
