StorMagic Customers University of Illinois and Weiss Group Named Finalists for the Storage Networking World 'Best Practices in Storage' Awards.
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- StorMagic, a fast-growing developer of iSCSI SAN management software, today announced that two of the company's customers, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Weiss Group, have been chosen as finalists for the "Best Practices in Storage" award sponsored by Storage Networking World (SNW) in conjunction with Computerworld and the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA). The awards will be presented at Storage Networking World in Dallas, Texas, October 17-20, 2008. University of Illinois is a finalist in the "Innovation and Promise" category while Weiss Group has been nominated in the "Selecting and Deploying Storage Networks" category; both have been chosen as finalists for the successful implementation of the StorMagic SM Series[TM] software, a cost-effective iSCSI-based Storage Area Network (SAN) solution. StorMagic will demonstrate the StorMagic SM Series at SNW in booth #6012.
These nominations follow the recent Computerworld "Best Practices in Infrastructure Management" award that another StorMagic customer, the University of Wisconsin Center for Health Systems Research and Analysis (CHSRA), won for the deployment of the StorMagic SM Series. The StorMagic software is addressing a critical customer need by making shared storage management in a virtualized environment easier and more cost-effective.
"With IT being one of the fast growing sectors in the technology industry, the finalists have shown they are leading the innovation with unique use of evolving technologies," said Ron Milton, executive vice president of Computerworld. "The organizations and professionals selected to be finalists in Storage Networking World's Fall 2008 'Best Practices in Storage' Awards Program are at the forefront of managing today's storage technology."
"We are excited to see our customers being recognized for their implementation of the StorMagic solution," said Mike Stolz, vice president of marketing at StorMagic. "Both University of Illinois and Weiss Group have embraced the StorMagic consolidated approach that brings enterprise-level iSCSI SAN capabilities to their environments without the high price tag, allowing them to store, share, manage and protect data through a single, easy-to-use interface. Organizations with limited IT resources and limited budgets can now take advantage of mission-critical storage functions such as data migration, consolidation, and management without compromising on performance."
