Targeted at the dedicated and multifunction server appliance A self-contained computer system specialized for network use. Its applications are pre-installed, and access to setup and configuration is via a Web browser. Server appliances may provide a single application or several applications; for example, a single device may provide file server,  markets, these 400MHz-based appliances allow heterogeneous users not only to share and manage data but also provide a complete system management solution using StorLogic's management software suite, SerView. SerView's functional and internal architecture functions as a wrapper around Microsoft's Windows NT Embedded. SerView leverages the built-in features of Windows NT Embedded 4.0 to provide a complete system management solution that also includes the control of plug-in file systems, applications or services. Taking advantage of NT's published infrastructures such as the Registry and Event Log, SerView's component services provide a modular and clean approach to OS integration, and operate in accordance with the interface rules of Windows' Service Control Manager (SCM (1) (Software Configuration Management, Source Code Management) See configuration management.
