Stones discovery.ARCHAEOLOGISTS have discovered 'Bluehenge' just a mile away from Britain's famous circle of standing stones at Stonehenge.It's been named after the colour of the 27 Welsh stones of which it was once made up. The new circle, unearthed Unearthed is the name of a Triple J project to find and "dig up" (hence the name) hidden talent in regional Australia. Unearthed has had three incarnations - they first visited each region of Australia where Triple J had a transmitter - 41 regions in all. over the summer by researchers near Amesbury, Wiltshire, is believed to have been put up 5,000 years ago - around the same time as work began on Stonehenge. All that remains is a series of holes signalling where the 27 giant stones were once set. The stones, made of Preseli spotted dolerite dol·er·ite n. Chiefly British A dark, fine-grained igneous rock; diabase. [French dolérite, from Greek doleros, deceitful (from its easily being mistaken for diorite) , were mined in the Preseli Mountains. |
