Software, Inc. announced the release of Objective Diagram 1.0, the newest member of Stingray's popular family of Visual C++/MFC class libraries.

Objective Diagram is the first product to fill in the holes in MFC's support for allowing developers to draw complex graphical objects, and fully supports the 5.0 release of Visual C++.

"Visual C++/MFC does not include classes that allow the developer to easily draw graphics, so many developers waste crucial development time writing generic code," said Scot Wingo, co-founder of Stingray Software. "Objective Diagram 1.0 fills a critical hole by providing an MFC-based framework that lets developers focus on their domain- specific logic and graphics."

Objective Diagram includes over 20 classes that work together to give the Visual C++ developer a framework that defines graphical objects in terms of how they appear, what events they handle and how they relate to other graphical objects. Objects can also be joined at pre- defined connection points. Objective Diagram's graphical objects support a variety of fill patterns, line styles, color schemes and can easily be extended by the developer.

In addition to the graphical object framework, the product features complete OLE support. This allows the end-user to embed diagrams in any OLE container In OLE compound document technology, it is the OLE client application, which holds the linked or embedded objects. See OLE.  and use the OLE drag and drop support to interactively lay out objects. Objective Diagram also integrates with the Visual C++/MFC document/view model that allows diagrams to be 'bound' to data and automatically updated without developer intervention when that data changes.

The product also includes the Objective Diagram Designer Diagram Designer is a free flowchart creating software designed by Michael Vinther. It can also create diagrams and slideshows.  that lets the developer interactively design new graphical objects, which are added to a palette of graphical objects that the end-user can manipulate.

Objective Diagram 1.0 ships in mid-May and is available for $495, which includes full source code and 60 days of technical support. Subscriptions are available for $245, and provide annual support and updates. Until June 1, beta testers and Stingray subscribers receive a $100 discount, and all other customers receive a $50 discount.
