Antique farm equipment enthusiasts, hobbyists and vendors from across Iowa and surrounding states are being called upon to participate in the World's Expo of Antique Farm Equipment to be held July 1-3 at the Ankeny Expo Park in Ankeny, Iowa Ankeny is a city in Polk County, Iowa, United States. The population was 27,118 at the 2000 census, while a special census taken by the city in 2005 counted 36,162 residents.[1] It is part of the Des Moines metropolitan area. . The Expo is planned to be the largest antique farm tractor and farm equipment show in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area. . "Over 2,000 antique tractors, implements, steam and gas engines are expected to participate in the 3-day exposition and there's still plenty of room for more," said Lyle Kreps, manager of the Expo. Guest exhibits will include horse-drawn implements, antique construction equipment and military vehicles Military vehicles include all land combat and transportation vehicles, excluding rail-based, which are designed for or are in significant use by military forces.

Other scheduled events include an antique tractor pull, an antique tractor and equipment auction, daily field demonstrations, pioneer farm crafts, model tractor displays, restoration clinics, a farm toy show and children's events. All Expo events will be seasoned with country music entertainment and a variety of farm-style foods.

It is estimated that more than 200 volunteers will be needed to assist in Expo activities such as transportation, traffic coordination, security and ticket sales.

Expo officials are also encouraging additional vendors to participate. "We are looking to offer a wide variety of merchandise related to antique farm equipment at this event, so vendors of all facets are welcome to participate," Kreps said. Vendors of food, clothing, toys, crafts, tractor parts and others are encouraged to attend the event.
