Bilodeau has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of the Company, effective immediately.

Mr. Paul Richman, who, last year, had informed Standard Microsystems Corporation's Board of Directors of his intention to retire as CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of the Company, effective at the end of SMSC's 1998 fiscal year, will continue in his capacity of Chairman of the Board of Standard Microsystems Corporation. Mr. Arthur Sidorsky, who had previously been serving as SMSC's President and Chief Operating Officer Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Mr. Bilodeau received his BS and MS degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Massachusetts Institute of Technology, at Cambridge; coeducational; chartered 1861, opened 1865 in Boston, moved 1916. It has long been recognized as an outstanding technological institute and its Sloan School of Management has notable programs in business,  and an MBA from the Harvard Business School Harvard Business School, officially named the Harvard Business School: George F. Baker Foundation, and also known as HBS, is one of the graduate schools of Harvard University. .
