Steven H. Gartner is new head of Metro.


Metro Commercial Real Estate, Inc. announced that it has appointed Steven H. Gartner to the newly created position of president. Gartner previously served as chief operating officer Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Concurrent with his appointment, Metro Commercial announced that founder Daniel J. Hughes has been named company CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  and will continue to actively participate in the overall management of the company.

Metro Commercial currently represents 130 retail properties, totaling in excess of 14 million s/f in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. The company also serves as the exclusive tenant representative for 27 major retail chains in the area, including Sports Authority, Circuit City, Target and PETsMART. The firm's property management division manages 50 shopping centers in the tri-state area.

As president of Metro Commercial, Gartner will spearhead the company's expansion into northern New Jersey and the entire state of Pennsylvania, from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh. In addition, Gartner will manage the day-to-day operations of the company.

Gartner's appointment complements an expanding executive management team that in April saw the addition of former Rubenstein Brokerage Group business manager Amy Orons as director of operations.

Gartner, a native of the Philadelphia area, orchestrated one of the largest commercial real estate transactions in the region in 2003 when he crafted the deal that sold two of Bart Blatstein's Tower Investment shopping centers to Cedar Shopping Centers, Inc. for a record $75 million. During his career, he has represented such national retailers as Marshalls/ TJ Maxx, Kohl's and Hollywood Video. In addition, Gartner was responsible for leasing Quartermaster quartermaster

The organization, founded in 1957, has 65,000 members worldwide, which include shopping center owners, developers and managers, as well as other individuals, .

In addition, Gartner serves as a featured moderator at the ICSC's regional annual meeting. Active in community service, Gartner is the current co-chair of the real estate division of State of Israel Bonds State of Israel Bonds are debt securities issued by the Government of Israel.
