Sterling Commerce is adding a contingency business process to its Sterling Integrator AS2 Edition Drummond Group certified software to enable trading partners to set up an automatic re-transmission of their transactions via a non-Interact route in the event of AS2 message failure.

Following the initiative by Wal-Mart to mandate its suppliers to adopt AS2, leading European retailers such as Auchan, ASDA and Compass are now driving their own trading communities to adopt the protocol and to communicate with their business partners securely online. Sterling's AS2 Edition solution monitors each AS2 transaction to detect possible transmission failures and then automatically resends any undelivered message via a preferred alternative route specified by each individual customer. Customers can choose to resend messages via their existing VAN provider, or via the private and secure Sterling Commerce contingency network service.
