 has been appointed to develop exterior restoration plans for the 1907 courthouse, which will house the North Shore Historical Museum. Sterling Glen granted a long-term lease to the museum in 2002 that enables it to establish a permanent home at the Glen Street location.

The project is being financed through government grants, foundation, corporate sponsorships and private donations.

"The permanent establishment of the North Shore Historical Museum will add a new cultural dynamic to Glen Cove and the surrounding area," said Brian Mercadante, president of the museum's board of directors. "We look forward to sharing our grand opening with the residents of Sterling Glen of Glen Cove and the surrounding community."

Under terms of the lease agreement, there is a $10 per-year rental fee for 99 years, with an opportunity to purchase the building for $10 in the 20th year from Sterling Glen.  to Sterling Glen's first floor public areas, including the lobby, parlor, bistro and library, are nearing completion. New wall coverings and plush carpeting are being installed throughout. An additional media/television room and a wellness center are also being incorporated.
