Sterling Commerce's CONNECT:Direct for Windows NT features new SNA support for Microsoft's SNA Server.

:SE) announces new support for Microsoft(R) SNA (Systems Network Architecture) IBM's mainframe network standards introduced in 1974. Originally a centralized architecture with a host computer controlling many terminals, enhancements, such as APPN and APPC (LU 6.  Server in its market-leading CONNECT:Direct(TM) for Windows NT(R).

CONNECT:Direct is commonly used to address highly automated application integration needs, such as data warehousing, disaster backup and recovery, and electronic commerce including data migration, billing and financial exchange, electronic funds transfer See EFT.

The file transfer software is a Win32 application that runs on a Windows NT service and uses the Windows NT Registry facility to store the CONNECT:Direct network map and user access authorizations. It also supports Microsoft Windows' Messaging Application Programming Interface (messaging) Messaging Application Programming Interface - (MAPI) A messaging architecture and a client interface component for applications such as electronic mail, scheduling, calendaring and document management.  (MAPI (Mail API) A programming interface from Microsoft that enables a client application to send to and receive mail from Exchange Server or a Microsoft Mail (MS Mail) messaging system. Microsoft applications such as Outlook, the Exchange client and Microsoft Schedule use MAPI. ) to notify administrators, users or MAPI-compliant applications that transfers were successfully completed.

CONNECT:Direct for Windows NT runs on Windows NT Server and is accessed and managed by CONNECT:Direct's Requester for Windows. The Requester provides an easy-to-use graphical user interface graphical user interface (GUI)
