Stereotype.

STEREO TYPE
   So White woman
   and Black man
   are walking in opposite directions.
   Eyes focus, connect,
   and then deflect ...
   she senses (Black) danger looming.
   Anticipating attack
   White woman
   secures her pocketbook,
   holding it tight
   to her heart
   risking a cardiac arrest.
   cradling her pocketbook of possessions
   like a newborn baby,
   guarding it with her fife
   (... protecting her life ...)
   She's mythical, misconceived
   Black men's prey,
   A potential victim
   of socially-constructed perceived
   purse snatchers.
   Black: connotative suspect
   in White's eyes.
   Cross the street
   White woman.

   or switch your purse
   to your safe, other side,
   beware of approaching
   purse snatcher.

   Don't risk
   another Black infraction
( ... the choice is yours).
But white woman and Black man
   are soon back to back

   heading in different directions.
   No Black purse snatching
   or White heart attack.

   Toleration
or, negative polite acceptance when ... where ...
   one is not generally welcome,
but is afforded polite human unacceptance
   Well ...
   they're Albright,
   ex.cept
   they're
   not
   like me.
   But they would be
   so much ea.si er
   to em. br. ace
   If
   economic garrotes
   IMF
   FTAA
   and
   sundry corporate acronyms.
   Free Trade
   World Bank
   Globalization
   Poverty Elimination
   Economic Empowerment

   "a rising tide
   that rifts all boats"
   that's how they sell
   the euphonious
   tasty
   plausible

   vacuous sentiment.
   And when the tide
   becomes a tidal wave
   little boats will be swamped
   by the gargantuan
   corporate ships of state
   ploughing their charted course
   of the world
